You can put this cleaning solution in a container or spray bottle.
What products should you avoid when cleaning windows?
Be careful not to use window cleaners containing ammonia or alcohol. They may seem like they do a more intense cleaning, but they can actually leave streaks and even a thin film that attracts dust and moisture.
If you have a tough stain, exceptionally, you can apply a solvent such as acetone or methylated spirits to a clean cloth and rub it directly on the stain. Dry it off and continue cleaning the window as you normally would.
As tough as some glued materials are, never use a razor blade or any other type of blade to scrape them off. This can cause permanent scratches and leave your windows more vulnerable to shattering in the future.

5 steps to carry out crystal cleaning
- Mix 1 part distilled vinegar with 10 parts warm water in a spray bottle.
- Wipe the window with a clean, soft microfiber cloth or lint-free paper towel to remove any dust before spraying the solution, then spray the entire surface.
- Use the lint-free towel to rub the vinegar mixture and apply it to the dirty spots on the window. Apply a generous amount, but avoid getting the professional cleaning solution on the wood, fiberglass, or vinyl frames, as it could discolor the finish.
- Use a second clean cloth to dry the window as best as possible. You’ll want to do this quickly after cleaning to avoid streaks, so if you have multiple windows to clean, it’s best to do them all once rather than spray them all at once.
- If streaks persist after cleaning, rinse with clean water.

Professionals use squeegees with a stable rubber blade. If you want to try the same thing, get two or three rubber blades to keep on hand.
