Yoga Nidra is such an activity, by which our body and mind are rehabilitated i.e. renewed. New consciousness awakens in our bodies.
It is not right to consider yoga only as an exercise, it is such an activity by which our body and mind are rehabilitated i.e. renewed. New consciousness awakens in our bodies. Today we are going to tell you about one such yoga called Yoga Nidra.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra means ‘spiritual sleep’, it is the sleep in which one sleeps while awake. And Yoga Nidra is the state between sleep and wakefulness. It can be considered as a state between dream and wakefulness. It is like a nap or says it is like a semi-conscious one. And it is believed that the gods sleep in this sleep.
And if you want to learn different types of yoga asanas you can learn at a Yoga in Rishikesh.
How to do Yoga Nidra:
- Do Yoga Nidra in an open environment, if you do it in a closed room then its doors and windows should be open. Do Shavasana by wearing loose clothes. Spread a carpet on the ground and spread a blanket on it. Both feet should be at a distance of about one foot, the palm should be six inches away from the waist. Keep your eyes closed.
- Keep the body steady, meditate but do not sleep. This is psychological sleep, not a struggle with thoughts. Let your body and mind-mind be relaxed. Relax the whole body from head to toe. Take a full breath and release it. Now imagine that you are doing this Nidra lying on the seashore. Your hands, legs, stomach, neck, and eyes have all become relaxed. Say to yourself that I am going to practice Yoga Nidra.
- Pledge is taken for good deeds in this Nidra. You can also take a resolution to get rid of bad habits. The resolution made in Yoga Nidra is very powerful. Now take five full breaths while lying down and exhale. The stomach and chest will work in this. The stomach will be up and down. Now meditate on your presiding deity and say the resolution 3 times in your mind.
- Now take your mind to the different parts of the body (76 parts) and instruct them to be relaxed and tension free. Take your mind to the toe of the right foot. All the toes, at least the sole of the foot, heel, calf, knee, thigh, buttocks, waist, and shoulder are becoming loose. Similarly, relax the left leg as well. Breathe easily and leave. Due to this, the pure air of the sea is coming into your body, and the dirty air goes out.
Benefits of Yoga Nidra:
