How does Canada have so many great drivers? It’s no secret that Canadians are some of the best drivers in the world, if not the best.
What makes Canadian drivers so good? They know the rules of the road inside and out and they stick to them, even when it seems like bending those rules might be safer or quicker.
Here are some of the reasons why Canadian drivers are considered by most to be among the best in the world.
Planning to Become a Great Driver
Before deciding to pursue becoming a driver in Canada, there are many things you need to think about. If you want to be a professional driver in the country.
you will have to take it very seriously and commit yourself fully.
Here are some ideas for how you can prepare for this endeavour if becoming a driver is your goal.
To begin with, apply for your regular driver’s licence with the provincial government in your state or territory of residence.
Some states require that drivers complete an assessment before getting their licence and depending on what province or territory you live in, those exams may involve different subjects.
Take the time to find out more information from your provincial office on what those subjects include.
How did we go from bad to good?
As you may have seen in the news, starting on December 18, 2017, and after that traffic laws are changing for drivers of Canada. This is a great chance for many reasons and I’m going to talk about three of them here.
First off, this change will help reduce accidents caused by distracted driving.
Not only is this not safe for other drivers but it also puts you at risk which is something we can’t afford to do.
Another reason this change is a good thing? It will reduce collisions with animals or people who wander into our path without looking first.
These can be very dangerous incidents which thankfully will go down as of 2018.
Traffic Laws Are Changing and That’s a Good Thing
The new law is part of a sweeping reform package aimed at improving safety on Canadian roads by outlawing distracted driving and getting novice drivers off high-speed rural highways.
Shortcomings aside, these changes are necessary given that 44% of Canadians believe it’s acceptable to drive while distracted even though evidence proves how dangerous this can be.
According to reports released by researchers at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia every time someone interacts with their phone or another electronic device while driving the crash risk jumps up by 23%.
Aggressive Driving Is Avoidable
Canada has one of the highest rates of driver fatalities per capita than any other country. It’s ranked second only to Libya when it comes to road traffic accidents that claim lives.
There are a lot of factors that have contributed to this issue. And while many might think that bad drivers are largely responsible for these high numbers, there is more to it than that.
Are Canadians Bad Drivers?
Canadian drivers have been making headlines for a lot of reasons lately. With their addiction to texting and driving, increased road rage, and strange winter driving habits.
Canadians may seem like not such stellar drivers. However, there are many reasons why Canadian drivers are actually among the safest in the world.
Even though we still need to work on our distracted driving and road rage habits.
What can you do as a Driver?
Driving is a demanding job with many responsibilities. Drivers in Canada have to navigate their way around the city, set up with other drivers and jobs, interact with customers and help them when needed and make sure all paperwork is filed correctly. But what does it take to be a driver?
Many aspects go into being a driver – both qualities about yourself and your professional experience. Every driver needs to keep their license clean by renewing on time, as well as staying attentive to traffic laws.
