Introduction:
The Annapurna Base Camp trekking is a high altitude trek. This is nestled in the Annapurna Sanctuary National Park. This amazing base camp is situated at an altitude of 4,100 metres. Annapurna Base Camp is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the world such as The Annapurna 1 which is 8,091 metres, the Annapurna 2 which is 7,219 metres, Hiunchuli which is 6,441 metres and Machhapuchhre is 6,993 metres.
Many agencies present in Pokhara, Nepal.They organise this ABC trek.This is a popular trek. Mainly two permits are required for doing this trek.Trekkers Information Management System(TIMS).The cost is rs 2000 to 3000 per person. The cost equals about 15 EUR and 17 USD.This permit is important for every trekker who is wishing to trek here. Another is an entry permit. One can purchase these two permits from Pokhara. You need to start your trek as early as possible.Usually in the early morning the weather is good.It often gets windy in the afternoon. If it is a clear sunny day you need to put proper sunscreen, cap or hat, sunglasses etc.
Kathmandu to Pokhara:
Day 1
The ABC trek starts from many villages which are close to Pokhara. On the first day to Annapurna Base Camp Trek you need to fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara this will save some time or you can take buses from Kantipath. Fom Kantipath all buses leave at 7 am in the morning. Buses take 6 hours to reach Pokhara.
Pokhara to Kande then Ghandruk
Day 2
Kande can be reached from Pokhara by bus or taxis.You can take a bus to Nayapul. Your first Annapurna Base Camp Trek will be downhill to Birethanti by crossing a suspension bridge that is built over the Burundi river. Here you need to sign some formalities with the forest authorities.
Following this route the trek starts to climb upwards towards the Ghandruk.Trek to Ghandruk is originally flat.Here you can enjoy the lush green forest,Small birds,peaceful environment.Spend overnight at a lodge in the Ghandruk.
Ghandruk to Sinuwa
Day 3
In the morning you will leave the village of Ghandruk and trek towards Sinuwa.The total distance is 12 kilometres.This takes 4 to 5 hours to complete Annapurna Base Camp Trek . Here you will be crossing many boulders before coming to a bridge on the Kimrong River. From here the trail becomes little steeper till you reach to the Gurung Village by crossing Jhinu Danda. At Jhubudanda you can enjoy the natural hot spring.You need to cross another suspension bridge over the Chhomrong river,there is a very steep ascent from this bridge to Chhomrong. After arriving at lower Sinuwa you need to stay here overnight.
Sinuwa to Deurali
Day 4
Sinuwa to Deurali is 14 kilometres which can be completed in 4 hours. First, start trekking from Sinuwa to Kuldhigar.This is another tough day with lots of ups and downs.
At this part a stone staircase will take you to the Dobhan through a bridge.On this trail you can experience rhododendron, Oak forest and bamboo forest.After trekking through the Himalaya you will be reaching to your destination, Deurali.Stay overnight here trek to Annapurna Base Camp.
Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp
Day 5
On this 5th day you will begin the final stretch towards the Annapurna Base Camp which will give you a great adrenaline rush.
A walk along the river Modi will take you to Bagar.This is the starting point of the Machhapuchhre base camp.Here you can spend some time then you need to head towards the Annapurna Sanctuary.
After trekking a little more you will reach the base camp of the Annapurna.On a clear sunny day you will have a 360 degree view of some of the highest mountains in the world.
Day 6
Spending some more time in the ABC again you need to descend down to Bamboo , Deurali and then Dobhan. Beautiful scenery on the way to Deurali will give you inner peace.
Day 7
Start your day from Bamboo to Kuldiga.Stay overnight at Jhinu Danda.
Day 8
In the morning your day will begin by crossing the suspension bridge over the Modi river. You need to cross some villages, settlements,forests etc before arriving at Syauli Bazar .From here you will find that the trekking route becomes flat till Nayapul.Arriving at Nayapul take a bus to Pokhara city where you need to stay overnight.
Day 9
This morning you can shop amazing artworks, pashminas, showpieces etc or can checkout from your hotel. One can also explore the city.
