Playground cleaning: The playgrounds in Sydney are spaces reserved for the little ones, boys and girls, where they can have fun with different types of attractions or game elements. Among playgrounds, we can distinguish different types depending on whether it is installed inside a building or outside in the open air. Indoor playgrounds, better known as ballparks, are usually private leisure facilities that are accessed for a fee.
IN SYDNEY CLEAN PLAYGROUNDS
Outside, enjoying the good weather or lamenting the bad, are the traditional playgrounds. Lately, these leisure areas are modernizing their facilities following the dictates of current trends. Although it is still possible to see small parks with the typical seesaws or swings, other structures are installed where agility and fun are combined to the liking of its little users.
There are those who find it strange that a playground in Sydney needs cleaning tasks. They mistakenly believe that wind and rain are responsible for cleaning and beautifying those game elements in a natural way. A playground is made up of so-called outdoor game or multi-game units and these require specific cleaning tasks.
If the spaces and the surface of the game area allow it, a sweep is carried out manually or mechanically, thus eliminating, leaves, paper, and other remains that could be dangerous to the health of users because of accidental ingestion, and cuts, etc. Subsequently, and also if possible, a Karcher-type pressurized water cleaning machine is used in which disinfectant and cleaning solutions can be included.
If it is not possible to clean the playground in Sydney in this way, it will be necessary to proceed manually:
- Fill a container with a disinfectant-degreaser solution, considering that it is 1 part solution to 10 parts water. You can also use water and bleach with a solution at a ratio of 1 part bleach to 5 parts water.
- Move on to spraying the entire surface of each game unit.
- Use a soft brush and chamois to clean all surfaces.
- Rinse all game units with water, if possible with a hose.
- Allow drying in the open air.
In the cleaning and maintenance of outdoor playgrounds, it is very important to check all the elements given that when suffering from inclement weather, uncontrolled play, etc… you can find extremely dirty playgrounds, with damage or breakage that must be corrected. For added security.
SAFETY REGULATIONS IN PLAYGROUNDS
We can divide the inspection procedure into up to four phases:
- daily visual inspection
- Weekly visual inspection (established as support if the use is very frequent)
- Operational inspection every 1 to 3 months
- Annual Main Inspection
PLAYGROUNDS IN NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES
Playgrounds are not exclusive leisure areas of squares and parks in the urban environment we can also find playgrounds in neighboring communities or urbanizations of Sydney with large garden areas, intended for the little ones to play. For all of them, maintenance and cleaning are paramount because they are still fun areas for children that must be clean and free of any risk to their health. If your community of neighbors has this type of play element, consider, besides other spaces, the cleaning of playgrounds by consulting a cleaning and maintenance company.
In summer, playgrounds and children’s play areas are places that are very popular with the youngest members of the household. For this reason and to maintain their well-being, it is necessary to periodically clean these areas.
In the following article, the SCS Group Integrated Services team focuses on cleaning parks and private children’s areas. Some examples of them are the parks of the summer accommodation developments, the parks, and playgrounds of hotels and campsites, or those found in some swimming pools.
If you run one of these businesses or you have a playground at home, keep reading this article because it interests you.
Playgrounds: how to clean and disinfect them
We have divided the cleaning of playgrounds into the following 4 simple steps, which do not require any type of special machinery except disinfectant products endorsed by Australian regulation
1. Secure and prohibit access to the park during cleanup:
To avoid poisoning and that the area is not really clean, we must cordon the playground off, and any user prohibited from entering. The cleaning technicians who work in the area must wear the corresponding uniforms and utensils for their safety.
2. Prepare materials for disinfection and playground cleaning
To properly disinfect and clean the areas, a mixture made with virucides certified under the Australian standard and approved by the Department of Health must be used. These allow the elimination of any bacteria, including COVID-19.
3. Apply the disinfectant material on the surfaces and rinse
Once the mixture is finished, we must continue its application either by spraying it or by nebulizing it. The manufacturer of the products will be the one to determine which is the best option.
Regarding the cleaning of surfaces, the best option is to carry out with scouring pads, brushes, and hoses to rinse. Pressurized water is also recommended, especially depending on what surfaces, if they are difficult to access or where dirt is difficult to remove.
4. Remove the access ban and open the park
Once the area has been cleaned, rinsed, and dried, users can be given access again and children can play in peace.
