This is how the IAS officer is selected
IAS officers are selected on the basis of their rank obtained in the UPSC exam. Top rankers in this exam get IAS posts, but many times the preference of top rankers is IPS or IFS, then lower rankers can also get IAS posts. After this rank people get IPS and IFS posts.
Indian Administrative Service officer training
The candidates selected in the exam are trained at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, where officers of all ranks are given a 3-month foundation training. Basic administrative skills are taught in this course, which is necessary for every civil service officer to know. After this, Indian Administrative Service officers are given complete training in Mussoorie and here they are given information about every sector of administration, policing and governance, as well as some special activities, are done inside the academy, in which Himalayas for mental and physical strength. IAS officer posting
After training, they are sent to their cadre. Where they are entrusted with the administration of a particular area or department, they are given executive powers to make important decisions as well as implement government policies and make proposals for the development of their respective areas, the first posting of an IAS officer. Executive powers are given, an IAS officer is much more powerful than a District Magistrate, and an IAS has the responsibility of all the departments of the district. As the District Magistrate, he is the head of the police department as well as other departments. The District Magistrate is also responsible for the police system of the district. Only one DM takes all the decisions related to law and order like prohibitory orders, section 144, etc in the district, DM can also give orders like taking action on the crowd or firing.
Know the salary and facilities:
An Indian Administrative Service officer gets a handsome salary. Under the Seventh Pay Commission, their salary ranges from Rs 56,100 to Rs 2.5 lakh per month. Apart from the basic pay and grade pay, they also get a dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, and convention allowance. Apart from this, IAS officers are also provided with other facilities like bungalows, cooks, gardeners, security guards, and other domestic help. These officers get electricity and telephonic services either free of cost or at higher subsidies.
